The Queen Mother · 1489 – 1541
Queen Margaret Tudor
Played by Tressa Ohler · Lead · Cast
Tudor princess, queen of Scots and mother of the young King James V.
Profile
Margaret Tudor, the elder daughter of Henry VII of England and sister of Henry VIII, married James IV of Scotland in 1503. After James IV fell at Flodden in 1513 she became regent for their infant son, James V.
In 1514 she married Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus. The marriage soon broke down, and the rivalry between Margaret, Angus and the other great families shaped the politics of Scotland through the years of the king's minority, the world in which Patrick Hamilton came of age.
