Played by John Demakas · Lead · Cast
Head of the house of Douglas and, for a time, the man who held the king.
Profile
Archibald Douglas, sixth Earl of Angus, married the widowed queen Margaret Tudor in 1514. From 1526 he kept the young James V in his custody and governed Scotland in the king's name.
His ascendancy ended in 1528, when James V escaped his control and drove Angus into exile in England. Those same months saw Patrick Hamilton tried and burned at St Andrews.
